So higher and higher they go until they get lost in out of space. Everything is going smoothly, until when they want to go back down, Willy Wonka says that they must go higher for them to go down better. In this book, Charlie is still in the elevator but Willy Wonka decides to try out his new Sky hooks, so he shoots the elevator up into the air. In the previous book, Charlie had just won Willy Wonka's Chocolate factory so he got to ride in Willy Wonka's great glass elevator. What happened to the characters to start the action of the story? It never actually says when it was set but the book was released in 1963, suggesting it was set some time in the 1950-60's. Knids are almost indestructible but when they try to attack the great glass elevator, they bounce right off it. They soon find themselves lost in space when they are attacked by a few green squishy things called knids. Charlie, Willy Wonka, Mr and Mrs Bucket and the 4 grandparents are all in a great glass elevator, blasting off into space.
